Runaway

By Gaurav Parab

Can you stay in this moment like time has just begun?
But darling I was always made to run,
Run away from my past, run away from my present,
Run away from where I will be when all is said and done.

I can run with you, she offered with a shrug,
But what will you run from? A saint or a thug?
I will run from whatever makes you run, she replied.
I run from what is me, and what lies deep inside.
If you run with me, you run away from what I am today.
The person you fell in love with on that February day.
I don't mind running to reach that time in space,
To be together when you outrun you to find your place.

All right you can run with me, but life's a messed up track.
Let's just run away together, no time to stand or walk back.
