An Old Saying

Honesty is the best policy wise men said
Did they know my girl or really cared?
Spent some time with a beautiful stranger
Told my love like an honest ranger
Didn’t know my girl could shoot so well
Ran slow when she screamed run like hell
Shot right there in the back of my knee
A limp for being honest and free.

Alone in the wild and starving to death,
The lord was kind and a wild bird he giveth
I held on to the bird, when the need was to push.
A bird in hand is better than two in the bush,
A bird meant another night to stay alive
Did not know I would be stuck there for five.
I spent the nights hungry and wishing.
That of wise words I had not been so accepting

Probably the fifth or sixth day
Reached the side of the old highway
A little black car standing by itself
Heard God helps those who help themselves.
Broke one window and then broke all four
As I entered, knew I had been here before.
Wasn’t this the car where I met that pretty treat?
Looked back and saw her body in the back seat
A shotgun I knew was lying by her side,
My girl had reached her before she could hide.

I head the sheriff’s car come around the bend
Hands behind your back and don’t defend.
He looked at her and looked at my face.
Finally a good old open and shut case

Do you have anything to say asked the judge,
I said I bear no one no grudge.
But those wise men and what they say,
They are the ones who should be put away.
There is only one time they have not got it wrong
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Nice one man.

Just an observation – the phrase actually goes ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’. Did you modify it on purpose? Because I felt that even putting the original one in would have obtained the desired effect.

In any case, interesting play of words. You’re pretty good at this stuff

I would not have words to express if i did try to express what you did , gives a hint of austerity you hold inside you .

I am afraid you dont know me , but i know i alsmost emphatically nodded after each of its line .

Its awesome to sum up.

of a mind meant to be originally naive
lured by lust, struggling to survive
