Time for a Time Out

By Gaurav Parab

While you were running as fast as your legs could,
Hair flying wild as you overran your old neighborhood,
Challenging the sky- just could never fly slow,
The time was to burn out- not merely glow.
Do you remember when you last took the time out?
To ask your friend back home that question about?
How he was doing and how were things at home,
Did the hair still fall every time little Jenny used a comb?
Were things still wrong with her white and red cells?
Did she still ask auntie to do that rhyme about the seashells?
Time to ring the bell and close this never ending bout,
It is high time that you took a timely time out.

While you were busy dodging non-existent accusations,
Seeking answers even when there were no questions,
Learning how to do a thing right and then apologize,
You forgot to think straight, yet learned to analyze.
When did you last hold her hand during that daily walk?
Really spoke with her soul and not merely talk.
Did she really smile inside when she laughed?
Was she drowning – could you again be her raft?
Time to clean up your act and stop the rot,
It is about time that you took a timely time out.
