A song of hope and strength

By Gaurav Parab

So you cry while others smile around you,
So no one knows what you went through,
Moments ago you felt the end of the rope.
As you run out words,
Try this song of hope.

It goes,

I won’t let my world end today,
As the lights go out, my eyes will find a way.
I will just not go down on my knees.
It will take more than just a stiff breeze.
You could place me at the end of a gunshot.
I will live; I am always more than what you have got.

So love left you for reasons left unexplained,
So work leaves you humiliated and drained.
So you are not beautiful in the eyes of a stranger,
So your friends cut you adrift without an anchor.
So you cannot make sense of it all,
So the ground rushes up to break your fall.

As you desperately search for a foothold on the slope,
Try this little song of hope.

It goes,

You may have got the better of me today,
When your pain closes in, see my joy breakaway.
Destiny expects me to break down and cry?
It picked the wrong body to roll over and die.
The world puts my worth at a single broken dime,
Yet the life in me shines through every time.
You could place me at the end of a gunshot.
I will live, I am always more than you have got.
I am not letting my spirit drift away,
I am living to fight one more day.
